welcome

The new Liberal Democrat/Conservative Government has certainly got off to a ‘cracking start’ with key policies agreed bringing major benefits to all sections of society. These include;

  • Adults – Raising the income tax threshold to £10,000 gives everyone an extra £700 in their pocket per annum. This will proportionately help those on low incomes more than most.
  • Pensions – Restoring the long overdue link between state pensions and earnings.
  • Political Reform – Fixed term parliaments of five years end a sitting Prime Minister’s ability to call an election principally when they think it is advantageous to their chances of being re-elected. There will be a referendum on the Alternative Voting system for future UK General Elections.
  • Civil Liberties – Scraping the discredited and unnecessary ID card scheme and safeguarding the use of personal data held on the DNA register.

This package of measures will ensure that we have a secure and stable government that will deliver for Britain in the most difficult of times. Had the Liberal Democrats not reached an arrangement with any party, then another General Election in months was unfortunately inevitable. Discussions with Labour failed, demonstrating that they were neither able nor willing to make the tough decisions that the country needed!
